Jean Jullien is a French graphic artist, currently working and living in London. His practise ranges from illustration to photography, video, costumes, installations, books, posters and clothing. He creates his work to communicate - through his work he communicates about life. These may be everyday things like visiting the park, or he could be expressing his views on politics. Jean Jullien does a lot of his work on the beach, as he likes doing observational drawings there. Personally I can see a lot of humour in his work, for example this illustration he has created below.

I like all of Jean Jullien's work, however his illustrations stand out to me the most. This is because of the style of them and the colours he uses, for example this one on the right hand side. I really like how bright all the colours are! And the illustration on the left hand side, I like how he uses colour to create humour as the moody people are gloomy colours, but the intoxicated person is in bright colours to make her stand out.

Jean Jullien created the famous "peace for Paris" symbol that went viral on social media because of the November 2015 terrorist attack. He said he created this illustration in a matter of minutes when he'd found out about the attacks. Jullien hadn't made any sketches to plan the illustration out - it was just his initial reaction to the news. The first thing that came to his head was peace, and the fact the Paris needed peace. He then paired this with the most famous landmark in Paris... the Eiffel Tower.

Jean Jullien said he wanted it to be an image of peace and solidarity and wanted to make sure the people in Pairs who were affected know that he was thinking of them. I like that he can create meaningful pieces of work which creates a important message as well as funny more lighthearted pieces of work which people are able to laugh about. This versatility is really important as an artist so not all of your work is the same.

If you are into illustration, I would really recommend looking at Jean Jullien and his work!
